May 10, 2010

The Society’s Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday 20th April at The Lairgate Hotel in Beverley at 5.30pm. The Society’s Chairman, Stuart Young, provided a commentary on the year, noting that this has been a successful one for the Society which has seen profit figures return to 2006/7 levels and continued improvements in capital and efficiency levels. He also noted the increase in the Society’s liquidity levels and stressed the importance of this in ensuring the security of savers monies with the Society.

Voting on the resolutions at the AGM was at its highest ever level with just over 20% of those members eligible to vote doing so, either by post or in person and all the resolutions were approved successfully. The Chairman was delighted to report, that as a result of the number of votes cast, the Society would be making a donation of £1,000 to Dove House Hospice in its aim to raise funds for its new extension.

Chief Executive, Phil Gray, expressed his thanks for the excellent arrangements made by The Lairgate Hotel for the meeting.
